Scarborough Borough Local Plan - Main Modifications

The council submitted the Scarborough Borough Local Plan for Independent Examination on 9 May 2016. The Secretary of State appointed Mr William Fieldhouse BA (Hons) MA MRTPI to undertake the Examination. He held a series of hearing sessions to discuss the Plan during August and September 2016.

Following the hearing sessions, the council has proposed modifications to the Local Plan to address concerns identified by the Inspector or other representors, or to reflect recent changes to national planning policy. In addition, the Council has proposed a number of changes, many of which are to improve the clarity of the document or update factual information. The proposed amendments are set out in the Scarborough Borough Local Plan – Main Modifications (Ref: PM-01) Consultation September 2016. This is accompanied by a further note on the Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) (Ref: PM-03) and an accompanying Sustainability Appraisal (SA) Note (Ref: PM-02). A Statement of Representations Procedure is also available to provide further details on the consultation and how you can view and respond to the documents.

The consultation will commence on Wednesday 21 September 2016 and will close at 5pm on Wednesday 2 November 2016. Consultation documents are displayed at Scarborough Town Hall, all libraries and Filey Evron Centre.

Comments are invited and can be made directly online at our Consultation Portal, by email to localplan@scarborough.gov.uk or sent to Forward Planning, Scarborough Borough Council, Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough, YO11 2HG. Post can also be hand delivered to Scarborough Town Hall.

At this stage of the Examination process, comments can only be made on the Main Modifications and this is not an opportunity to make or re-state previous comments on other aspects or contents of the Plan. Please use the 'representation form' provided at the botttom of this page. If you choose not to use a 'representation form', you must ensure that all of the required information is included in your response. All responses will be made public and published on the Council's website.
