Sleights Railway Station Volunteers    11 May, 2016

Due to a reduction in volunteers the organisation has approached the Parish Council for assistance to help with enabling the long term volunteer management of the wonderful floral displays at the station, which are a delight to residents and visitors alike.  The volunteers are not getting any younger and are unable to do certain more physical tasks such as painting, foliage pruning etc!  Fortunately, they have been able to get on board two volunteers to assist with watering the plants.

The Parish Council resolved at its May meeting to write to Northern Rail, as they lease the station and rail track from Network Rail and have operational and asset responsibility, to see if they can offer assistance and Cllr D Tate volunteered to paint the barrels.  The parish council would like to ask the residents of the parish, through this social media form, if anyone had any spare time to assist the volunteer group in the upkeep of the station displays.  Should there be anyone who is interested then please contact Judy Powditch on 01947 810444.
