Blog #24  »  Northern Gas Networks Change of Contact Number    (10 February, 2015)

"Our new customer number

On Sunday 1st February our general customer care contact number changed to freephone
0800 040 7766.

As a valued stakeholder we are looking for your support to help spread the word about our new freephone number. You may still have some of our literature bearing the old number (0845 634 0508) or it may be included in digital content on your organisation’s intranet or website.

We would therefore be grateful if you could please update or withdraw all references to our old number.

Why have we changed our number?

The new number is free to call from landlines. It is also free to call as part of your minutes allowance on most mobile tariffs and costs the same rate as a national landline call for calls made outside of your allowance.

When new legislation comes into force from June 2015, our new number will be free to dial from all mobile phones regardless of tariff.

What happens if a customer dials the old number?

Our old number – 0845 634 0508 – will still work for the next 12 months. However, when customers phone the old number, they’ll receive a recorded message, giving them the option to cut the call short and phone again on the 0800 number.

Thank you for helping us to support our customers.

Sharon Roper

Head of Stakeholder Relations"

"Please note that the National Gas Service Emergency Number - 0800 111 999 - remains unchanged and should be dialed by anyone who smells gas or suspects Carbon Monoxide (CO)"
